Mayfly hatch shows on weather radar
It wasn't rain. It certainly wasn't snow.
So what was it last Friday that turned the radar in the La Crosse area into sea of white?
It turns out that it was a gigantic hatch of mayflies, the National Weather Service said today.
The hatch began 9 p.m. and continued into the early morning hours up and down the Mississippi River valley, according the Weather Service.
That's a hell on a lot of bugs.
Then in a sudden period of hedonistic frenzy, they hatch and mate. They usually die...(more)
